The children learned about primary and secondary colors.  They used dry pastels to learn how to mix colors to create new ones.

Musique visuele à la manière de Wassily Kandinsky

The students learned about Kandinsky`s abstract technique, his love for music and they also explored various types of lines.  They then experimented by creating lines that represented a particular melody/musical piece and added color using water colors.

Nature Morte

The students examined various examples of Still Life pieces paying particular attention to the shape and light portrayed in them.  Using fruits and vegetables as subjects, the students practiced sketching with charcoal as well as with dry pastels.

Paysages urbains à la manière de Paul Klee

The students studied Paul Klee`s painting. They explored his architectural subject and technique (overlapping, depth, lines, etc).  Using geometrical shapes made out of tissue paper, the students cretaed their own Urban landscapes.

Couleurs et valeur

The children learned about primary and secondary colors as well as their value scale.  They practiced mixing colors to white and black (saturation and omission of light) to create various shades of color.​

Formes géométriques à la manière de PIET MONDRIAN

In conjunction with Miss Jillian`s geometry unit, the students studied the technique and style of abstract artist Piet Mondrian.  Using various sized shapes, they experimented with composition and balance as they created their very own "Composition I".    Click here to see student`s work
